What Efforts Further Organisational Goals?
One of the most pressing challenges facing most leaders is how do I get everything I need to do done without working excessive hours.
I can recall when I was in a leadership roles. There were plenty of meetings to attend, calls on my time and demands for input not to mention multiple deadlines.
I might have had a vague idea about what efforts helped further organisational goals. On the other hand did I really know what efforts yielded the biggest return? Probably not.
How about you?
So you might wonder why this is so important. There are several reasons:
- There is an absolute limit on the time you have available
- You can’t buy an upgrade on the amount of time you have
- No one is going to sit down and tell you what efforts are going to yield the biggest gain – you have to figure this out.
- Ultimately your success is determined by the results and outcomes that you deliver.
- The results you deliver are influenced by the plans you make and execute.
So if you don’t know what efforts actually further organisational goals, take a bit of time to stop, reflect and consider this question.
It might just be the thing that significantly changes the value you deliver.
