What are in your opinion the main challenges for this subject for the next five years or so? Kind regards Peter Smithson, professional developer of the management coaching trainers game of the year 2007.

Hi Peter

Thanks for your comment and in response to your question, here are my thoughts on the main challenges facing people as they seek to achieve career success:

1. People staying put in roles because of the economic uncertainty
2. Continued challenge on budgets for training and development opportunities
3. Further mergers and acquisitions which might result in a highly rated individual getting lost in a bigger organisation
4. People not taking personal responsibility for their career development
5. Overall just a tougher envirnment which makes it harder for people to shine, especially if spending a lot of time firefighting.

I wish more people would write blogs like this that are actually helpful to read. With all the fluff floating around on the internet, it is rare to read a blog like yours instead.
